Important: Please bring your own pen/pencil, facemask, water, and snacks. Please follow applicable rules about wearing a facemask and maintaining social distancing. Racers must follow all traffic laws and safety rules. Racers may participate on foot or may ride public transportation (bus or train) or water taxis, but may not take any private motorized vehicle (car, taxi, etc.). Each correct answer collected will be scored as one point and each minute late in returning to the start/finish will subtract a point. Racers can select either a 1-hour (Short), 2-hour (Medium) or 4-hour (Long) time limit. The format of the course is a Score-O where participants go to as many control locations as they have time to collect correct answers for during the time period of the race. Bring a pen or pencil to fill out your answer sheet. Upon registration, each participant will also be given an Answer Sheet that includes questions that can only be answered when they are at the control locations on the map. We will use a map of downtown Chicago provided at registration. We will be under the bridge, north of the pagoda and playground.

The start/finish and registration are at Ping Tom Park under the 18th street bridge. Join us on Saturday, August 28th for a unique urban orienteering experience! Upon registration, you will receive (1) registration confirmation, (2) within 24 hours, a separate email with links to map documents. This event will use the app MapRun6 for timing on your own schedule. Due to the few access points to the area, we will have a remote start/finish. There are a few trails, though much of the advanced control points will require long stretches of cross country travel. The West part of the mapped area has some reddish rock areas, more broken up, while the rest is typical Sierra granite slabs scattered throughout. 100 Lakes is one of the rare regions around 7000 feet where we are allowed to race (low impact style) and we are excited to bring you the 2021 NAV-X Challenge #6 at this beautiful venue! The race area has mostly low/moderate undergrowth and steepness, by California standards, and there are close to a hundred small lakes in the basin. However, almost all of the upper elevations is federally designated Wilderness and therefore forbidden for organized group events or races. The Sierra Nevada mountains of California are world famous for their beauty and wildness. The Long Stumble will loop back though the start/finish area about half way through, so feel free to stash extra water near the start! There will be no water on the course, or at the start/finish, so please carry your own water with you.
